English Builder Prosecuted For Illegal Asbestos Removal.

Nicholas Sharpe, owner and operator of Sharpe Builders, was recently prosecuted by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) after he illegally broke up and removed asbestos panels from a home in Castle Bromwich, England.

HSE inspectors visited the house in July 2012, after they received a call from an environmental health officer about possible unlicensed asbestos removal conducted by Sharpe.

Sharpe was prosecuted for not having the proper license to remove the asbestos-containing boards and for failing to take the steps required by law to prevent the asbestos fibers from becoming airborne.

Sharpe pleaded guilty to two violations of the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 Act. He was fined and ordered to pay costs.
