Daphene Steel, from Hinton, West Virginia, has brought suit against 41 separate defendant companies for the asbestos-related death of her husband.
Her husband, William Y. Steel, was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2010. He died less than one year later in November of 2011. According to her complaint, Daphene claims that her husband was exposed to asbestos during his employment as a laborer and coal miner for various companies between the years of 1965 and 1991. She alleges that the lung cancer developed as a direct result of asbestos exposure.
Her complaint also alleges that all of the defendants failed to warn her husband about the dangers of asbestos, failed to supply him with proper apparel to wear while handling asbestos, and were liable for sending him to work in contaminated buildings.
